SCOPE Alliance Announces “Cloud Computing in Telecom” Workshop

By Leslie Guth, SCOPE Alliance

How will cloud computing affect traditional carrier-grade platforms used in telecom networks

Service providers and network equipment providers will answer this and many other related questions at SCOPE Alliance’s “Cloud Computing in Telecom” member workshop hosted by Alcatel-Lucent, May 5-7 in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Presenters will address such topics as what types of cloud computing (e.g., SaaS, PaaS, or MSP) are appropriate for telecom applications, how virtualization is useful in cloud computing, whether carrier-grade telecom applications impose new resource management requirements on computing, and more.

“Cloud Computing in Telecom” is the second in a series of workshops presented by SCOPE Alliance. The workshops provide opportunity for open, focused discussions among members and help set direction for future SCOPE work.

SCOPE Alliance members are invited to engage in lively discussion with industry thought leaders at “Cloud Computing in Telecom.” Save the dates — May 5-7, 2010.

The December 2009 workshop on power efficiency challenges for base platforms featured thirteen presentations and attracted many delegates from SCOPE member companies, as well as participants who joined remotely. SCOPE Alliance members can review the presentations at www.scope-alliance.org.
