OpenSAF News

By Alan Meyer, President, OpenSAF

The OpenSAF Technical workgroup is gearing up for two major events. One is the release of Version 3 of the software, currently in Beta, and expected to be in GA (General Availability) in late May. Also on June 3-4, the OpenSAF technical community is holding its second annual Developer Days Technical Conference in Shenzhen, China, hosted by Huawei Technologies.

Version 3 of the software incorporates major upgrades and new features, including Java APIs, Notification Services, and Information Model Management Service.

As with all open source projects, the Beta software is available to all for download at http://devel.opensaf.org/wiki/downloads/Release_3_downloads. All feedback is welcome!

Registrants to Developer Days 2009 already include engineers from North America, Europe, South Korea, India, and China, representing more than a dozen global leaders in the HA industry.

At this event, the technical leadership will present its ideas for the upcoming release (R4) and hold an open discussion with all participants regarding their views of R4 and their plans for contributions.

OpenSAF Technical Evangelist Saha Sayandeb just published an article entitled “Making Third Party/Legacy Applications Highly Available Using OpenSAF”. It explains how straightforward it is to migrate existing applications to OpenSAF, making them highly available. You can download or read the article on the OpenSAF homepage under News > Articles.
